/In 2002, following an overnight studio session in Los Angeles, Kanye West was involved in a near-fatal road accident. He suffered a jaw fracture in three places in the accident and underwent reconstructive surgery, and his jaw was wired shut. Surprisingly, while recuperating, he wrote and recorded “Through the Wire,” drawing inspiration from pain and pressure.
